Clearing/Round 2

Post-Round 1

Local clearing

Local Round 1 clearing will be carried out within each deanery, where appointable candidates held on reserve lists can be made offers as other candidates decline or withdraw. These offers may continue for some time (possibly beyond April), and there will be some overlap between the end of Round 1 and the beginning of Round 2 (see below). If an applicant has not heard about an offer of a post in Round 1 by the time Round 2 has opened, they are encouraged to make a fresh application to CMT in Round 2.

National clearing

The national timescale, as determined by MMC in conjunction with all specialties, is rather tight in spring, and thus it is not feasible for there to be a period of clearing on a national scale at the close of CMT recruitment Round 1. Thus, any CMT CT1 posts still available at the end of the first round of recruitment will be made available again in the second round.

Round 2

Advertisements for 2010 CMT CT1 posts being made available in the second round of recruitment will be posted on Monday 29th March.

The application form for applying to CMT in Round 2 will open at 9.00am (BST) on Tuesday March 30th, and will remain open for four weeks - closing at 17.00 (BST) on Monday 26th April.

The process of recruitment to CMT CT1 posts in Round 2 will be largely the same as in Round 1; please note that further information on applying (see the bottom of this page) can be found elsewhere on this website, in our Applicants’ Guide, and/or via contacting our recruitment office email helpdesk (cmtrecruitment@rcplondon.ac.uk).

Round 2 clearing

There will be a short period of local clearing once Round 2 interviews have been completed, where offers can be recycled within deaneries if possible and necessary; however, with less candidates involved and no option of co-ordinated holding unlike Round 1, it is likely that the process of making offers of posts will be greatly hastened.

Once local clearing is complete, there will be a process of national clearing - beginning on Monday June 28th. Here, any eligible candidates who have applied to CMT R2, have been assessed as appointable, but without being offered a post, will be offered the option of having their application cascaded to other deaneries within the system who still have available vacant posts.

All candidates will be invited to preference the participating deaneries, and the Specialty Recruitment Office here will assist in matching candidates to remaining posts.
