Wales Deanery

The Wales Deanery offers a great variety of Core Medical Training programmes, and Wales itself offers a wide range of lifestyle opportunities. There are cosmopolitan centres with large hospitals, lively shopping centres and busy nightlife, to university and market towns, with vibrant student cultures, great charm and strong artistic traditions. All are surrounded by outstanding scenery and in close proximity to all there are wonderful recreational opportunities. Wales is passionate about sport; and there are multiple opportunities to participate in and support a wide range of sports throughout the country.

The coastline of Wales is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, splendid cliff top views and excellent kayaking, sailing and surfing. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is the UK's only truly coastal National Park, and the Gower Peninsula was the first place in Britain to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Snowdonia National Park covers 823 square miles of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in North Wales. Once they've experienced this coastline and Wales' superb hill-walking trails and climbing challenges, large numbers of visitors from around the world return year after year.

Round 2 UoAs

In Round 2 of CMT Recruitment, the whole of Wales will be one single Unit of Application (UoA) to which candidates can apply; this is as opposed to three, as was the case in Round 1.

Once R2 long- and short-listing has been completed, we (Wales Recruitment Office) will email all eligible applicants to our UoA to request that candidates inform us of their preferences regarding the 3 Wales areas (South East Wales, Mid & South West Wales, North Wales) – these should be returned either before or on the day of interview.

Interviews will be held in the three regions on separate days; Southeast 20th May, Mid & Southwest 24th May, and North 27th May. Candidates will also be asked to give a preference for which of the three regions they would prefer to have their interview in.
