2010 CMT Recruitment Round 2

08-Feb-2010

The current, i.e. first, round of recruitment to 2010 CMT posts will continue over the coming weeks and into the spring, as interviews are completed and deaneries continue to make offers to suitable candidates.

At the end of Round 1 (R1), any deaneries predicting vacancies remaining will advertise CMT Round 2 (R2) posts. It is expected that most, but not all, English & Welsh deaneries will participate in R2; for instance last year (2009 recruitment), London & Mersey filled all CMT posts within the first round - although this may not necessarily be the case this year.

Round 2 process

R2 will be run throughout spring and summer 2010, and in much the same way as R1, with applicants completing and submitting an application form, and booking themselves into interview (if invited) via the online application system - which will again be accessed via this website.

The application form and interviews will be in the same format as R1; both will be assessing candidates' achievements, hence the majority of the information contained within this website will still be applicable (barring timescale/timeline).

Clearing

One potential difference within R2 recruitment will be the introduction of a national clearing phase following the local clearing period (if necessary). Because the application form, short-listing methods, interview questions and techniques have been standardised across all participating deaneries in England & Wales, the scores awarded to candidates during these stages of their application will be transferable between deaneries.

As such, as R2 nears completion, if there are any remaining vacant CMT posts, and eligible & suitable candidates who are not yet placed, then national clearing will take place. During this process, appointable candidates will be asked to re-rank their (remaining) preferred deaneries and will be offered places in rank order. More information will be made available on this nearer to the time, as is necessary.

Visa/Immigration status

Please note that applications from candidates not eligible in R1 on account of their immigration status - i.e. those candidates with Tier 2 visa status - are welcomed in R2. Whilst it is still necessary for the Resident Labour Market Test to be fulfilled, candidates will be considered for interview and offer of a post if there are no suitable resident candidates.

Overlap with Round 1 offers process?

Also, please be aware that due to the effect of holding offers (the holding deadline being midday on 24th March), some late offers will still be issued as deaneries work their way down their local reserve lists. It is therefore possible that some candidates will receive a R1 offer whilst they are applying to R2. Candidates are advised that if they have not received an acceptable offer of a post through R1, prior to the close of the R2 CMT CT1 application system they should re-apply to R2.

Round 2 is completely separate from Round 1

Any R2 application submitted by a candidate will be regarded as completely separate from, and independent of, any R1 application they submitted earlier. Additionally, 'fresh' candidates - i.e. those who did not apply in R1 - are welcomed.

Further information

A full timeline detailing subsequent stages of the R2 recruitment process will be added to this website soon, along with full information on all stages and aspects of the process. To avoid confusion, we are waiting for R1 to progress to its later stages before adding significant amounts of information on R2 to the website.

However, if anyone has any queries relating to R2 in the meantime, including timeline, process, etc. please email our helpdesk at cmtrecruitment@rcplondon.ac.uk.
